Much like his four peers who entered the World Wrestling Federation at the same time, this seasoned grappler received accolades all over the world before making it big in the United States. Traveling the world, competing against the likes of Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, Dean built a reputation as one of the most skilled mat technicians competing in the entire industry.

Although Malenko enjoyed success overseas, his ultimate goal always remained to make it big in this business in the U.S. When he joined Extreme Championship Wrestling, Dean finally had an avenue to showcase his extraordinary talents to the American audience.

Once again, the paths of these four radicals crossed in ECW when Malenko was involved in a legendary feud with Eddie Guerrero over the promotion’s TV Title. At one point, the two men competed in a match that concluded with a time-limit draw – 30 minutes of what is considered by many the greatest match in ECW history.

Soon after though, WCW and its money came courting Malenko and his skill. As is the case with his three associates, Malenko’s time in Atlanta will always be remembered as unfulfilling. Through battles with Chris Jericho, Eddy Guerrero and many others, it appeared Malenko was on the fast track to the top in WCW. However, there still seemed to be a "glass ceiling."

Malenko is now ready to take his opportunity in the WWF and prove to the world that he deserves to be thought of as a main-eventer.
